When should I place my order?

Orders may be placed up to 12 months before your event date. The earlier you order, the earlier you can reserve your chosen colours. It is a good idea to order popular wedding colours such as cream and ivory as early as possible, especially for the peak wedding months of October to March. If we don't have your first choice available we will contact you within 2 business days of placing your order and give you the option of an alternative colour or a full refund. Full payment is required to reserve your order.

When will my order be sent?

Orders that include freeze dried or air dried petals are sent 4 weeks before the event date. From the time you place your order we reserve your items in our temperature controlled storage facility. This ensures that your dried petals will look vibrant and beautiful on your event date.

Highly perishable items such as fresh rose petals are sent by overnight courier 3 business days before the event. All highly perishable items must be ordered separately with overnight courier selected as the delivery option.

Orders that do not include perishable items such as fresh rose petals or dried rose petals are sent within 3 weeks of receiving the order. We try to send all non-perishable orders out within 5 business days of receiving them, however, some of our items must first be received from other vendors. Items requiring personalisation or manufacturing, such as the petal cones, may take slightly longer.

Where you have opted for Express Delivery we will try to send your order within 3 business days of receiving it.

When will my order arrive?

From the time your parcel is sent:
  • Standard Delivery takes 1 week to 10 days depending on your location.
  • Express Delivery takes 2 to 3 business days.
  • Overnight Courier takes 1 to 2 business days.
  • Registered Air Mail takes 1 to 2 weeks.
  • Express Post International takes 3 to 7 business days.

Do I need to be at home when my order arrives?

If you have elected to receive your parcel by Standard, Express, Registered Air Mail or Express Post International Delivery, you do not need to be at home when your order arrives. A card will be left in your mail box and your parcel will be taken to the nearest post office to await your collection. Any member of your household may sign for the parcel.

If your parcel is arriving by Overnight Courier, you must be present at your address on the day the parcel is scheduled to arrive. The courier will not phone customers to alert them of the delivery and if you are not at home when the parcel is delivered you may be charged an additional $22 re-delivery fee. We highly recommend you send Overnight Courier parcels to a work address where someone is always present during business hours.

Do you deliver to PO Boxes?"

Standard, Express, Registered Air Mail and Express Post International parcels can all be delivered to post office boxes. A card will be left in your box for your collection from the post office counter. We do not guarantee delivery times on parcels shipped to PO Boxes. All Overnight Courier parcels MUST be delivered to a physical address.

Where do you deliver?

All of our items except for fresh rose petals can be sent to any country in the world. Fresh rose petals are restricted to locations that are serviced by the courier's overnight delivery network. Most locales nearby Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Hobart, Launceston, Canberra and Perth can receive our fresh rose petals. Please email us at info[at]simplyrosepetals.com.au with your postcode, event date and the name of the town you wish your fresh rose petals to be sent to. We will confirm within 2 business days whether you are eligible for overnight courier.

Do you deliver internationally?

We send our products all over the world. The only exception is our fresh rose petals which are limited to delivery in Australia. All prices on the website are in Australian dollars and your credit card will be charged in Australian dollars. Our items do not include any duty or sales tax that may be imposed by the receiving country upon their arrival. It is the customer's responsibility to cover any such expenses.

If you would like to take our freeze dried or air dried rose petals overseas with you, please make a note in the Comments Box when you place your order to request a Manufacturer's Declaration to take on board the plane. This can be provided to quarantine if they require any evidence of the drying process used on the rose petals.

How is delivery calculated?

Delivery is calculated at checkout based on a single flat-rate for any quantity ordered. A premium is charged for expedited delivery and international shipping. The following delivery charges are a guide:
  • Standard Delivery (Australia) is $15
  • Express Delivery (Australia) is $25
  • Overnight Courier (Australia) is $40
  • Registered Air Mail (International) is $40
  • Express Post (International) is $70
International parcels sent by Registered Air Mail that exceed 2kg may be charged an additional delivery fee after checkout as the parcel will need to be divided into multiple parcels. This will only be done with your consent.

What are my delivery options?

We work with Australia Post eParcel and Star Track Express to offer Standard (7 to 10 days), Express (2 to 3 business days), Overnight Courier (1 to 2 business days), Registered Air Mail (1 to 2 weeks) and Express Post International (3 to 7 business days). All parcels are barcoded and fully traceable. Please keep in mind that any postage option other than Standard Delivery incurs a premium delivery fee. Even if you choose to upgrade the delivery, regular order processing times still apply. Fresh rose petals may only be delivered by Overnight Courier to locations within our next day delivery network. All parcels must be signed for by a member of the addressee's household at the time of collection.

Will the items on my order be sent together or separately?

In order to offer our customers the widest and most unique selection, some items may be sent separately. You will not be charged for each parcel. Only one postage charge will apply.
PLEASE NOTE: All orders for fresh rose petals must be placed separately to other non-perishable items so that Overnight Courier may be selected for delivery.

How should I store my rose petals?

Most importantly, our dried and silk rose petal cannons should be stored in a cool environment away from sources of heat at all times.

Freeze dried and air dried rose petals should be stored in a cool, dry and dark room. Ideally store them in their packages at the bottom of your bedroom cupboard. Do not store them in a bathroom, fridge, direct sunlight or a room that gets particularly hot.

Silk rose petals need to be kept dry and away from direct sunlight.

The clear fresh rose petal containers must be removed from their packaging and placed into the fridge immediately upon delivery. Do not place the containers directly in front of the refrigeration fan or in the crisper. Keep them in the top to middle shelves. If the tissue liners become wet, change them over by placing clean, dry tissues in the lid and base. Limit handling of the fresh rose petals to avoid bruising.

Do you have a printed catalogue?

Unfortunately we do not have a printed catalogue. Our entire collection can be viewed online.

How many mini rose heads do I need?

For a light scattering of miniature rose heads around a table centrepiece you will need approximately 20 heads for a round table seating 10 people. The miniature rose heads are only the size of a fingernail so you may wish to add bulk by scattering our beautiful freeze dried rose petals with the miniature rose heads.

Can I take the rose petals on a plane or interstate with me?

Our freeze dried rose petals, air dried rose petals and artificial silk rose petals can be taken on a plane overseas and interstate without any problems. If you plan to take them overseas please request a Manufacturer's Declaration in the Comments Box towards the end of placing your order. The fresh rose petals can be taken interstate provided they are kept refrigerated but they may not be taken overseas due to quarantine restrictions on fresh flower products.

Do you have a shop I can visit?

We do not have a shop front that is open to the public. All of our orders are sent directly from our rose petal farm in Victoria. Our rose petal farm is not open to visitors at any time of the year. Instead our entire catalogue can be viewed online.

Rose Petal FAQ's (Frequently Asked Questions)

Do your rose petals stain?

Our freeze dried and air dried rose petals will not stain your bridal gown or table linen. This makes them very popular for beauty salons, day spas and weddings, because the colour does not "run" or leak.

However, our fresh rose petals may stain because they contain moisture. Likewise, our silk rose petals are dyed to achieve their bright colours so they may stain if the dye becomes wet.

Do you sell fresh roses or fresh wedding bouquets?

Although we sell our home grown fresh rose petals, we do not sell the actual fresh cut-flower rose stems or fresh floral wedding bouquets. We would recommend sourcing these from your local florist.

Can I put the rose petals in water?

Our air dried rose petals and fresh rose petals are the most suited for floating in water such as fountains, bathtubs, foot spas, table centrepieces and water features, for long periods of time. The air dried rose petals are particularly hardy when floated in water. They maintain their shape, colour and ability to float. The fresh rose petals may take on a bruised appearance after long periods of time but provided you select darker colours such as red you shouldn't have a problem. Our freeze dried rose petals can also be floated on water but only for an hour or two before the soft petals will begin to absorb water and lose their beautiful appearance. Among our day spa and beauty salon clients, our premium air dried rose petals have been the most popular for floating on water.

Are your dried rose petals like pot pourri?

None of our dried rose petals look like conventional pot pourri you would have seen in shops. Our premium air dried rose petals are smaller and firmer than real rose petals but their colours and quality is far superior to pot pourri. We do not use any fragrance oil or other plant materials in our dried rose petals. If you want dried rose petals that look just like fresh rose petals then our freeze dried rose petals are just that! However, if you want the most eco-friendly confetti alternative of only the highest quality then you will most likely prefer our air dried rose petals.

Do your rose petals have a fragrance?

Our fresh rose petals and air dried rose petals have a natural fragrance that varies in intensity depending on the rose variety and the time of year. The freeze drying technique removes fragrance from our freeze dried rose petals and our silk rose petals are not scented. We do not add any fragrance to our rose petals because the fragrance oils may cause staining.

Are your dried rose petals soft?

For soft dried rose petals, our freeze dried rose petals are the solution. Some of our air dried rose petals are very soft but their respective freeze dried colour will likely be softer. To make any dried rose petals softer you can expose them to cool air or air conditioning on the day before the event to allow them to absorb some of the air's moisture.

How many cups of rose petals do I need for an aisle?

For a nice scattering of rose petals down your aisle, you will need 10 cups (1 pack) of rose petals for every 2 metres in length of the aisle. Most aisles are between 6 metres and 10 metres in length, so you will need between 30 cups (3 packs) and 50 cups (5 packs) of rose petals. The majority of hire carpets are 10 metres in length so you will need 5 packs for a nice scattering. It does pay to check with your hire company as to the carpet length first. For decorating a hired carpet we would suggest our freeze dried rose petals as they look just like our fresh rose petals but they have the added benefit of not staining.

If you would rather a line of rose petals running down each side of the aisle, then the measurements are exactly the same as those above, eg. 5 packs will provide a line of rose petals down each side of a 10 metre aisle.

Full, dense coverage of your aisle requires a much larger quantity of rose petals than a nice scattering. For full coverage you will need 10 cups (1 pack) of rose petals for every half a metre in length of the aisle. A 10 metre aisle will require 200 cups (20 packs) of rose petals for a thick coverage.

How many cups of rose petals do I need for table decorations?

For a nice scattering of rose petals around a table centrepiece you will need 10 cups (1 pack) of rose petals for every 5 to 6 round ten-seater tables. If you have square, rectangular or trestle tables, you may need 10 cups (1 pack) for every 4 to 5 tables. If you have a preference for piling up the rose petals instead of scattering them, you could need as much as 10 cups for every 2 tables. Many of our brides like to scatter the petals on their guest tables and then pile the rose petals in a runner-like fashion down the front of their rectangular bridal table. Depending on how large your bridal party is, you may need half a pack of petals or more for your bridal table runner. Also, don't forget to add your cake table, registry table, wishing well or gift table and guest book table to the equation!

How many cups of rose petals do I need for throwing confetti?

There are a few different options for throwing confetti - rose petal cones, rose petal confetti cannons, or simply giving guests a handful of rose petals to throw after the ceremony. If you would like each guest to take one handful of petals to throw, you will need 10 cups of rose petals (1 pack) for every 15 to 20 guests. Therefore, for a wedding of 100 guests, 5 to 6 packs of rose petals will give each guest a handful of rose petals.

How many cups of rose petals do I need for decorating a bed?

For lightly scattering rose petals over a standard queen size bed you will need 10 cups (1 pack) of rose petals. Likewise, 10 cups of rose petals will be enough to create a small heart shape on the bed. Many of our most romantic customers purchase 10 cups of rose petals for scattering on the bed and 10 cups of rose petals for creating a small petal path from the doorway to the bed.

For decorating a bed we would suggest our freeze dried rose petals because they look just like fresh rose petals, but they don't stain; they are soft to lie on; and they can be easily stored unrefrigerated by your hotel a couple of weeks in advance.

Do you have edible or organic rose petals?

Unfortunately roses are one of the most difficult produce to grow organically. Although we use spray very sparingly (as little as twice a year), we cannot guarantee that our rose petals are organic or edible. To date we have been unable to source organic or edible rose petals but we continue in the hope of finding a supplier. We have compiled a database of customers who would like organic or edible rose petals so that if we do locate a supplier we can put you in touch with him/her. If you would like to be added to our database for organic and edible rose petal requests, please email info[at]simplyrosepetals.com.au.

What do your rose petals weigh?

We don't measure our rose petals in terms of their weight because different rose varieties weigh different amounts depending on the density of their petals. To ensure we provide you with a consistent volume of rose petals, we measure our rose petals in terms of cups. Each cup is a 250mL metric measuring cup. So when we say a pack has 10 cups, we mean that the pack contains 2.5 litres. Please note that settling may occur in transit so the volume of petals may be deceptive. However, every pack is individually measured to contain 10 cups of rose petals.

Cannon FAQ's (Frequently Asked Questions)

How many cannons do I need?

For a good photographic effect we recommend releasing 3 to 6 cannons simultaneously. One to two cannons will give you a fun effect but it won't give you the best chance of capturing a fabulous photo. Ultimately it comes down to your budget. The average number of cannons purchased is 4, with most of our brides providing the bridal party and/or the parents of the bride and groom with rose petal cannons to release.

Do the cannons make a loud bang?

When the cannons are released they do make a bang which is a bit louder than a party popper. The bang often adds to the fun effect created by the cannons. It certainly isn't loud enough to frighten adults or children.

Can I release the cannons more than once?

The dried and silk rose petal cannons are single release only. They cannot be re-filled and released again.

When should I release the cannons?

The most effective and popular times to release the rose petal cannons are:
  • after the ceremony
  • when the bride and groom first kiss as husband and wife
  • during the photo shoot
  • as the newlyweds enter their reception
  • during the bridal waltz

How do you release the cannons?

Both the dried rose petal cannons and the silk rose petal cannons are handheld and very easy to operate. Instructions are printed on the side of each cannon cylinder.
Step 1
Remove the white plastic lid on the top of the cannon.
Step 2
Peel off the "Tear This First" sticker on the side of the cannon.
Step 3
Twist the cannon firmly in the direction of the arrows printed on the cylinder. Do not point the cannons directly into the face of anyone. The firm twist requires an adult's strength. Cannons operators must be over 18 years of age.

Where should the cannons be pointed when you release them?

For the best photographic effect, stand a couple of metres away from the bridal couple and release the petals into the sky above their heads. Try to release half of the cannons on the right hand side of the couple and the half of the cannons on the left hand side of the couple. If it's a breezy or windy day, be sure to stand further upwind to compensate for the breeze carrying the petals through the air. Also, don't forget to tell your photographer when you're about to release them so he/she may capture the best photo!

Petal Cone FAQ's (Frequently Asked Questions)

How many cones do I need?

One cone for every 2 to 3 guests gives a beautiful photographic effect and will involve many of your guests. Generally the ladies and children love to throw the rose petal cones so it's a good idea to cater for them. In an average wedding of 100 guests our brides usually order around 40 rose petal cones.

When should I use the cones?

Our rose petal cones are most commonly used:
  • after the bride and groom are announced husband and wife
  • during the photo shoot
  • as wedding favours and bonbonniere
  • during the ceremony of a baby naming day
  • as decorations for a young girl's fairy princess birthday party.

What should I put the cones in?

Simply Rose Petals has a lovely selection of baskets and tins available in many different colours including white, silver, grey, wicker, pale pink and hot pink. The basket range in size catering for 10 to 100 cones. Please contact customer service Monday to Friday 9AM - 5PM AEST on 1300 785 101 to enquire about what we currently have in stock. Alternatively, you may prefer to purchase a cane basket or decorative box from your local craft store to hold your rose petal cones. PLEASE NOTE: The cones will not remain upright without the support of a box or basket.

Does the printing cost extra?

Printing is included in the cost of the deluxe, couture and baby naming day cones. There is no extra charge for printing.

Can I order cones without bows?

Cones may be ordered without the bows. The price for the cones remains the same with or without attached bows.
